2013 Sepang Moto2 QP Result: Pole Taken After Three-Way Tussle

October 12, 2013

Full report and results below:

Esteve Rabat has taken a deserved pole position after dominating the entire Malaysian Moto2 weekend thus far, topping every session. He was pushed all the way in the heated qualifying session and only bested Thomas Luthi by one hundredth of a second, while championship challenger Pol Espargaro completed the front row a further tenth behind.

The next closest rider, a further three tenths back was Frenchman Johann Zarco who heads up row two, the Suter rider will be joined by Mika Kallio and Takaaki Nakagami. Alex DeAngelis, Xavier Simeon and Jordi Torres make up the third row while a very disappointed championship leader Scott Redding had to settle for a less than ideal tenth place on the grid. The Brit looked annoyed with traffic at several points during the session and perhaps let that effect his performance. It will be interesting to see how the Marc VDS rider handles the pressure of Sunday’s race having to battle his way through the field to keep tabs on Espargaro.
